The Ceremony
Carol gifted her sister, Karen (Maid of Honor), a matching Alhambra necklace they chose together from Van Cleef & Arpels.
The groomsmen each received a whiskey decanter and glass set by Decicio Glass from Seattle, where Robert had his bachelor party.
In the flower walls and bouquets were peonies, a Chinese symbol of love; and olive branches, a symbol of peace and the namesake of their puppy, Olive.
Carol’s cousin, Albert, flew in from Paris and became instant besties with Olive at first paw-shake. Thanks to his help, Olive was able to attend her parents’ wedding!
Officiating was Carol’s best friend, Patricia, whose wedding took place the previous year in New York where Carol caught her bouquet and Robert caught the garter.
The Reception
Featured on the welcome table was a flock of Sandpipers carved by Robert’s father, Gordon, as a wedding gift to the couple.
On their first trip together, the couple shared a box of Ladurée macarons in NY Central Park, where Robert proposed four years later.
All the cocktail and dinner tables were decorated with potted orchids and succulents arranged by the Bride’s mother, Sarah.
Instead of signature cocktails, the Bride requested custom champagne pops to help guests stay cool in the summer heat!
Designed by the Bride, the menu was titled with the Chinese character for “double happiness”, a symbol of good luck and happy marriage for newlyweds.
